McLaren Leisure Centre

McLaren Leisure Centre is the main indoor sports and swimming facility for Callander and the surrounding Trossachs villages, set on Mollands Road on the eastern edge of the town beside McLaren High School. It is run as an independent community social enterprise rather than as a council facility, with any surplus reinvested in the building and its programmes.

The centre is built around a twenty-metre swimming pool with a sauna, used for public swimming, lessons and clubs across the week. Dry-side facilities include a multi-purpose sports hall for court sports and clubs, an indoor climbing wall, a soft play area for younger children, and a fitness suite with a separate strength and conditioning zone. Outside, a full-size floodlit 3G pitch takes football and other team bookings through the evening.

The programme is built for a mixed rural catchment: swimming lessons and aqua classes, gym inductions and fitness classes, climbing sessions, and a holiday activity timetable that fills the school breaks for local families. Meeting and function rooms are available for community use, and a small cafe serves the reception area.

For visitors staying in and around Callander, the pool and gym are open to non-members on a pay-as-you-go basis, which makes the centre a useful wet-weather option in a part of the National Park where the weather turns quickly.
