Affiliate disclosure
Some of the links on Explore Scotland are affiliate links. If you follow one and book or buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. That's it.
What this means
Running a guide and printing free maps costs money. A few of our outbound links — usually to booking services or to a business's own shop — pay us a small referral fee if you go on to book. You never pay more because of it; the price is exactly the same as going direct.
What it doesn't mean
It does not buy a place in our guide, and it never changes what we write. We decide which places to include on their own merits, the way we'd point a friend in the right direction. A business can't pay to be recommended here, and a commission link doesn't move anything up the page or soften how we describe it.
Advertising is separate, and labelled
Some businesses do advertise with us — in the printed maps, on the boards, and as paid listings — through our parent company, West20 Media. Where something is a paid placement rather than an editorial pick, it's treated as advertising, not a recommendation.
