The Waverley Hotel runs from a row of joined buildings at numbers 88 to 94 on Callander Main Street, in the middle of the village’s central stretch and a short walk from the Tourist Information Centre at the eastern end. The hotel calls Callander the “Gateway to the Highlands” and the self-proclaimed capital of the Trossachs National Park, and the position on Main Street fits both claims: most of the village’s shops, cafés and restaurants are within two minutes’ walk.

The accommodation is the smaller half of the operation. All rooms are en-suite with colour television and tea-and-coffee facilities, and the rooms work for short stays rather than week-long bases. Parking is on the street directly outside the hotel and on the Tourist Information Centre car park a hundred metres east.

The bar is the larger half and the better-known one. The Waverley carries the widest range of cask ales, lagers and malt whiskies in the village (over a hundred named bottles at a typical season), and won the CAMRA Forth Valley Pub of the Year award in 2006. The recognition is rare for a hotel bar of this size and has stayed quoted in the village ever since. Live folk music runs through the season on a regular but unadvertised schedule; the bar opens to non-residents through the day and evening and is one of the more reliable Callander stops for a single-malt nightcap.
