Loch Tay Highland Lodges sit on the one-hundred-and-forty-acre privately-owned Milton Morenish Estate, four miles north of Killin on the road to Aberfeldy. The estate stretches along the north shore of Loch Tay below the Ben Lawers mountain range, with the lodges arranged in landscaped grounds running back from the loch frontage to the lower slopes of the hills. The position is the principal selling point: open loch views from the lodge decks and direct hill access from the back of the estate.
The Scandinavian self-catering lodges sit individually in their own plots rather than packed into rows, secluded and well-designed and finished to a higher specification than the standard touring-park cabin. The internal fit-out is comfortable rather than basic, with full kitchens, sitting rooms opening to private decks, and bedroom configurations from couples up to small family groups. The grounds are landscaped through the lodges rather than left as cleared scrub, which keeps the visual character closer to a country-house estate than a holiday park.
The on-site activity range is unusually broad. Clay-pigeon shooting and putting on the lower greens, fishing on the loch with the estate’s permits, walking and cycling on the estate paths, fast RIB boat rides on the loch and river rafting on the Dochart all run as on-park bookable activities. The Boathouse Restaurant (a separate listing in this guide) handles the food side of the operation; the social hub of the park and open to non-residents.
Bookings by phone on 01567 820323, or via the Loch Tay Vacations website. Milton Morenish Estate, Killin, Perthshire, FK21 8TY. The Boathouse Restaurant on site is a separate listing in this guide.
