Torridon Stores and Café

Torridon Stores and Café sits at the water’s edge in the village of Torridon, on the north shore of the loch where the village meets the hills. The combined shop and café functions as the community anchor: it is the only general store and the only takeaway in a settlement of around a hundred and fifty people, and the principal stopping point for walkers and cyclists coming off the Liathach, Beinn Eighe and Beinn Alligin routes that start from the village or its immediate surroundings.

The shop carries the practical groceries (bread, milk, fresh and tinned, fruit and vegetables, basic chilled and frozen), camping consumables (gas canisters, batteries, headtorches, OS maps), drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks, local mineral water), and a small selection of books on the local area, arts and crafts and souvenirs. Logs and kindling for the camping pitches at the head of the loch sit by the door.

The café side runs through the day with homemade soup, baking, light lunches and a working coffee machine. Indoor seating is warmed by a wood stove in winter; outside benches face Loch Torridon and the mountains.

The Stores also doubles as a small tourist-information point for walkers asking after route conditions, ferry timings to Skye or recommended starts up Liathach. Current opening hours and the takeaway menu at the Torridon Stores website.
