Shieldaig Lodge Hotel

Shieldaig Lodge sits on the south shore of Loch Gairloch at Badachro, three miles south-west of Gairloch village by the B8056 toward Red Point. The lodge was built as a Victorian sporting estate house in the late 19th century, the Mackenzie of Gairloch shooting lodge, and the country-house pattern is preserved in the modern operation: log-fire drawing rooms, formal dining, the standard accumulation of stalker’s trophies and estate maps on the walls.

The hotel sits in its own grounds running down to the loch shore, and the stay pattern combines accommodation with a working sporting offer. Stalking is run across the surrounding estate ground for red deer in season; salmon and sea-trout fishing is available on the river beats; and the walking from the door takes in the Badachro coast around the bay, the road south to Red Point, and the wider Gairloch and Loch Torridon hill country a short drive away.

The dining room runs a single-menu approach with a fine-dining pattern, game from the estate in season, west-coast seafood, the standard Highland-luxury offer. The bar is the public room of the listing and carries a working whisky range and the standard country-house pattern (chesterfields, log fires, framed sporting prints).
