The Neuk

The Neuk is a small bed-and-breakfast on Ladysmith Street, one of the residential side-streets running back from Ullapool’s seafront. The position is the practical anchor: harbour, CalMac ferry terminal, restaurants and the village shops are all under five minutes’ walk along the grid of streets that make up central Ullapool, which puts The Neuk inside the planned-village footprint that the British Fisheries Society laid out in 1788.

The accommodation is the standard small-B&B pattern, a handful of en-suite rooms, a residents’ lounge, a sit-down cooked breakfast with table service in the morning. Visiting walkers and ferry travellers form the core trade; the Stornoway ferry’s morning sailing means early breakfasts are part of the normal house pattern through the summer.

Ladysmith Street itself is a quiet residential strip a block back from West Shore Street; the noise of the harbour pubs in summer doesn’t reach back this far. The Neuk is owner-operated and the small-house feel of the listing (no chain branding, no scaled accommodation block) is the point, for travellers who want a quiet base with the village on the doorstep rather than a hotel on the seafront.
