Kenneth Morrison Butchers is the family butcher’s shop at Strath, in the planned-grid Victorian extension of Gairloch village. The shop is one of the older retail operations in the village and has built its reputation across decades, the in-house haggis and the dressed-on-site sausages are the named-product specialities, alongside the standard butcher’s counter of Highland beef, lamb, pork and game in season.

The supply pattern is the working farm-to-shop one that the Highland west coast traditionally runs on. Local Highland-bred cattle and croft lamb come direct from named suppliers around Gairloch and Loch Maree; venison and game appear through the autumn from local estates; the bacon and ham are cured on-site. The shop’s wholesale trade supplies a substantial slice of the area’s hotels and restaurants, the Gairloch Hotel, Myrtle Bank, Shieldaig Lodge, Pool House and the smaller B&Bs all pick up on supply rounds.

Strath itself is the village’s middle cluster, sitting on the planned grid laid out between the harbour at Charlestown and the museum-and-school at Achtercairn. The shop sits on the main road through this section and is a five-minute walk from any of the surrounding hotels. Standard small-town opening hours with a Saturday-morning trade pattern.

Worth a stop for visitors self-catering through Gairloch or buying in for an evening on the road. Facebook is the current public channel.
