The bakery is on Main Street, the iconic seafront row of painted houses that runs along the harbour at Tobermory. Baking happens at the back of the shop; the front counter carries the morning’s output and a small sit-in café on the side opens onto the street. Bread, rolls, scones, sausage rolls, pies, cakes and the day’s traybakes turn over through the day in the pattern you’d expect from a working high-street bakery.
Tobermory’s position at the end of the road network on Mull means the bakery serves a wider patch than its town size would suggest. Cottages and self-caterers from across the north of the island stop in for bread on the way through, and the bakery supplies several of the cafés and hotels around the town. The ferry to Kilchoan in Ardnamurchan leaves from the slipway two minutes’ walk away; the chandlery, the chippies, the grocers and the harbour offices run along the same stretch.
Open from breakfast through to mid-afternoon, six days a week, with reduced or closed hours on Sundays through the off-season. The sit-in side serves tea, coffee, soup and a short lunch list alongside the counter offer; the queue can build at lunchtime in summer.
