Crannich is a small farm-based holiday operation at Aros, on the main road through the middle of Mull about half way between Salen and Tobermory. The accommodation runs across static holiday caravans let by the week or short break, alongside a small touring site with pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents. The buildings and pitches sit back from the road in their own grounds, with the surrounding farmland running down toward the Sound of Mull and the higher ground of central Mull rising behind.

Aros itself is a scatter rather than a village, a postal address rather than a settlement, but the practical position is good. Tobermory is fifteen minutes north for the harbour, the shops and the ferries on to Ardnamurchan; Salen is ten minutes south for the petrol pump, the small shop and the road on to Craignure and the Oban ferry. The Glenforsa airstrip is a few minutes down the same road, a grass strip that takes occasional small aircraft and works as an unusual landmark.

The position suits a longer stay using Mull as a touring base. Day-trip distances from Aros: Calgary’s white-sand beach on the north-west coast forty minutes, Duart Castle and the Lismore ferry from Craignure half an hour, Iona via the Fionnphort ferry an hour and a half. The Ulva Ferry crossing for Staffa and Treshnish boat tours is roughly forty-five minutes.

Open from the beginning of April to the end of November. Caravan availability, touring pitches, current rates and bookings at the Crannich website.
