Ashbank Bed & Breakfast

Ashbank Bed and Breakfast sits on Balmaha Road in the heart of Drymen, the conservation village that marks the first stop on the West Highland Way after the trail leaves Milngavie. Mhairi and Tommy Duncan run the operation as a purpose-built three-ensuite-room B&B, finished to a higher standard than the older village conversions and configured to flex between twin and double depending on what each booking needs.

All three bedrooms are ensuite. One double sleeps up to three on a fold-down arrangement; one room is configured for full wheelchair access with an adapted wet room shower. The kit is consistent across rooms (LCD television, tea and coffee tray, free wifi, central heating) and the build is recent enough that the plumbing and insulation are not the legacy-conversion compromises common in older B&Bs on the West Highland Way corridor.

Walkers are the predominant guest, and the operation is set up for them: packed lunches available on request, drying space for boots and waterproofs, and the practical understanding of arriving wet after a Loch Lomond shore day. Drymen sits a mile east of the loch at Balmaha and the village’s pubs, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance; Glasgow is forty minutes south on the A809.
