Gairloch Holiday Park sits on the rising machair behind the long pale-sand beach at Big Sand, two miles north of Gairloch village by the single-track B8021. The position is straightforward, the park’s pitches and pods occupy the level ground between the road and the dunes, and a short path through the marram grass drops onto the beach itself. Big Sand is one of the longer Wester Ross beaches: a mile of pale-grey sand backed by low dunes, with views west to Longa Island and (in clear weather) the Cuillin of Skye on the southern horizon.

The pitch mix is the standard small-park layout, touring caravan and motorhome pitches with hook-ups on hard-standing, tent pitches lower down on the grass, and a separate row of glamping pods at the back of the site. The service block carries toilets, showers, a small laundry and a service point for waste; a small café-and-shop operates in season at the entrance.

The road north past the park carries on to Melvaig and the road-end at Rua Reidh, the lighthouse and the long approach to North Erradale, and the small townships along the way form the Gairloch outer-ring stay base. The B8021 is single-track most of the way from the village, with passing places.

Seasonal, typically Easter to October. Current rates and availability at the Gairloch Holiday Park website.
