Kayak Summer Isles is the established sea-kayak guiding and instruction operator based in Ullapool, running guided trips out to the Summer Isles and along the wider Coigach and Loch Broom coast. The base is a residential address on St Valery Place; trips meet at the launch point on the day. Boats, paddles, buoyancy aids, spray-decks and dry-bags are all provided as part of the trip price.

The Summer Isles are the headline destination. The cluster of small islands two miles offshore of Achiltibuie includes Tanera Mòr (the only inhabited island, with a small population and a working pier), Tanera Beag with its arch and sea-cave passages, Priest Island further out, and a string of smaller skerries that are reachable on a calm-sea day-trip. A half-day round of the closer islands and a full day crossing to the outer skerries are the two standard summer-paddle pattern; multi-day trips overnight at the bothies and beach campsites in the archipelago.

Coaches are BCU-qualified and the trips are graded by experience level. Beginners’ introductions stay close to shore; intermediates take the crossing to the islands; advanced multi-day trips work the Coigach coastline up to Reiff and the cliffs north toward Cape Wrath. Sailings are weather-dependent, the open-water leg is exposed and trips do get cancelled or rerouted, with the operator confirming by mid-morning.
