Scifi Planet

Scifi Planet is an independent science-fiction and fantasy shop on George Street, in the middle of Oban’s main retail run. The stock divides between collectibles and books on one side, graphic novels and trade paperbacks, action figures, statues, model kits, prop replicas, and tabletop on the other, with Games Workshop’s Warhammer ranges, painting supplies and a rotating selection of card and board games for sale.

For a town of Oban’s size, the shop’s range is unusually deep. The nearest comparable specialist retailers are an hour or more away in Glasgow or Inverness, which means Scifi Planet is the local supply point for hobbyists across Argyll and the Hebrides, modellers, Warhammer players, Magic: The Gathering players, anyone in the area with a paint-and-glue habit. The shop runs occasional in-store tournament and painting sessions; details are posted on the website and social channels rather than on a fixed schedule.

The premises are part of the same George Street run that includes the bakery, the butcher’s, the chippies and the gift shops, a couple of minutes’ walk from the railway station and the ferry terminal. Standard six-day opening through the week; Sunday hours are seasonal.
