Mull Theatre is the producing theatre company based at Druimfin on the southern edge of Tobermory, one of the smaller-cast professional theatre operations in Scotland and the descendant of the famous Mull Little Theatre, which for years held the title of the smallest professional theatre in the world. The company makes its own work on the island and tours it out: to village halls across Mull, to the wider Highlands and Islands, and to venues on the mainland.

The Druimfin building is the production and rehearsal home, with a small studio performance space that hosts the company’s own shows and visiting work through the season. Seeing a production here, in a working theatre building on a Hebridean island with the company that made the show, is a different experience from catching the same production later on tour; the studio’s scale puts the audience close enough to the work that nothing hides.

Druimfin is signed off the road climbing south out of Tobermory, on the way to Salen. The walk down from the harbour takes a steady twenty minutes and rises sharply at the end; most visitors drive, and parking is on site.

The touring programme is announced a season or two in advance. Mull Theatre shares its parent organisation with An Tobar, the arts centre, gallery and music venue on Argyll Terrace in Tobermory itself (a separate listing in this guide).
